We choose our personal guardians before each incarnation, but they aren't immediately in charge of caring for us.
During pregnancy, the mother’s guardians take charge of both the mother and the fetus.
From the Records, birth is a ceremonial passage where both the mother’s guardians and the
baby’s guardians are present. It’s a moment of passing the torch – where the mother’s
guardians relinquish care over the baby and the baby’s guardians officially take charge.
